Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG

For the production of our Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG we choose the best Barbera grapes from the vineyards of our members with the longest productive life and the best exposure. The designation “Superior”, as from the “Production Regulations”, comes from a natural higher alcohol content of the grapes and from a twelve months refining, of which at least six in oak barrels.
Just this refinement allows an evolution of the scent and color of our Barbera also making it more stable.
Vine: Barbera 100%
Vineyards: 100% in Castel Rocchero, facing south, Guyot simple breeding
Harvest: End of September – beginning of October
Average annual production: 5,000 bottles
Vinification: Selection of grapes during the manual harvest, de-stemming and crushing and temperature-controlled maceration in programmable fermenters.
Aging: 12 months of which at least 6 in oak barrels.
Properties and characteristics: It has a ruby ​​red color with orange reflections, good structure, intense fruit perfume with light woody flavor and a dry and persistent taste.
Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

Serving suggestions: Our Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG gladly accompanies pasta dishes with meat sauce or mushrooms. It perfectly goes with main courses made of red meats and game. Also very good with aged or blue and spicy cheeses.
