January recipe: turnips with potatoes

CORTESESMALLFor January we like to suggest this simple and tasty recipe, that allows you to bring on the table a nutritious and tasty plate with just a few ingredients, perfect in combination  with Cortese Alto Monferrato by Cantina La Torre di Castel Rocchero. It might be tasted either by those who prefer Vegetarian or Vegan cooking or by those who want to add a touch of mountain flavor as well.

 

 

Ingredients for 4 people:

400 grams turnips
350 grams of potatoes
1 onion
1 ladle of vegetable broth
origan
oil
salt
pepper

Additional ingredient: 200 grams Alpine cheese to melt or, failing that, of mozzarella.

Take a pan and heat four tablespoons of olive oil and let the finely chopped onion soften.
Add the turnips and potatoes previously peeled and cut into slices. Add salt and pepper,  stir and pour the broth meanwhile, cooking for half an hour in a preheated oven at 200°.

Those who prefer the version No Veg, will then withdraw the pan from the oven, spread  the cheese previously cut into cubes and sprinkle the surface with a bit of origan. Then  wipe off in the oven for another 10 minutes and serve it hot.

For both versions, recommended wine is: CORTESE ALTO MONFERRATO by La Torre di Castel Rocchero.
